Before Squaresoft allied with Disney to produce the Kingdom Hearts series, they allied with Nintendo to produce an RPG with the Big N's mascot plumber Mario, consequentially creating one of the last great RPGs of the 16-bit era. It was also one of Yoko Shimomura's debut soundtracks, with traditional Mario tracks composed by Koji Kondo and a few Final Fantasy themes by Nobuo Uematsu. The soundtrack is generally solid, with one of the strongest tracks being "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms," and is recommended to fans of videogame music.
