I think I've gotten somewhat good at this game, as I didn't die at all when exploring a new fortress area near the Bandit's Path, and I unlocked a prayer that recovers HP and reverts wounding that depletes my character's maximum health.
Apparently all my leveling at the Dakota Vein was for naught, as the boss of the frozen area has proven a match for me. I've tried farming green hexes so I could connect terminals to the area, but haven't gotten any thus far. Don't know when I'll try again.
