This horror novel, which the author dedicates to three boys,
further acknowledging The Inca Project in their writing expertise, stars
Joanne, one of the first-person narrators, who grew up in a dysfunctional family
that her schizophrenic mother Beth abandoned in 2014, around when Joanne lost
her first male child. She ultimately marries the man of her dreams, Jeff,
father to identical twins Maggie and Annie, who receive their own first-person
sections within each chapter, although they both become suspects in his murder.
Another character in whom Joanne confides, Jonathan Davies, receives his own
first-person section that concludes this dark, twisting tale.
